As part of an ongoing effort to combat the import of fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine into the Knoxville area by out-of-state drug trafficking organizations, the Knoxville Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit executed two separate search warrants at different apartments in the Asheville Highway area last week. Those search warrants were obtained as part of two separate and ongoing drug trafficking investigations.
The warrants resulted in the recovery of a total of five handguns, three of which were stolen, over $18,000 in cash, approximately one pound of fentanyl, just under two pounds of crystal methamphetamine, as well as manufacturing items to include cutting agents, masks, bags, and a hydraulic press.
A total of three subjects, all from Detroit, Michigan, were taken into federal custody on numerous drug trafficking and firearm-related charges.
The KPD thanks the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and ATF for their assistance throughout these investigations.
